Starting a garden can seem overwhelming, but choosing the right tools makes the difference between a chore and an enjoyable activity. The first step is to understand what you need for your space, whether it's a small balcony or a large yard.

1. The Shovel and Rake: Your Basic Partners

Not all shovels are the same. For the compact soil in Romania, we recommend a pointed-tip shovel made of carbon steel, which penetrates more easily. Rakes with wide tines are ideal for leveling soil after digging, while those with fine tines are perfect for cleaning up dry leaves.

2. Workshop Organization: The Key to Efficiency

A well-organized workshop saves time and reduces frustration. A pegboard wall for light tools or a magnetic holder for steel tools keeps everything within reach. Make sure shovels and rakes are washed and dried after each use to prevent rust.

Expert tip:

Invest in a stiff wire brush to quickly clean soil stuck to tools before storage. It will significantly extend their lifespan.

3. Choosing Materials: Steel vs. Aluminum

Carbon steel offers strength and durability, making it ideal for digging. Aluminum is lighter, excellent for rakes and transport tools. Check the handles: wooden ones offer a warm grip, while rubber or composite ones are resistant to moisture.
